FAQs

How does a water treatment room in a shipping container work?

A containerised water treatment room integrates process equipment, mechanical & electrical (M&E) systems and safety features inside a modified ISO shipping container. Units are built and delivered ready for plug-and-play commissioning, with:

  • Process hardware: pumps, filtration, dosing/UV, sampling and pipework to your flow and water-quality targets.
  • M&E integration: distribution boards, control panels, LED/emergency lighting, containment and labelled external connections.
  • Environmental control: insulation, calculated ventilation/HVAC air-changes and optional acoustic attenuation.
  • Safety & access: non-slip floors, emergency egress, safety signage, bunding options and secure multi-point locking. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) precedes delivery; on-site hook-up and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) complete commissioning.

What are the benefits of housing a water treatment room within a shipping container?

  • Rapid deployment: off-site manufacture minimises on-site disruption—ideal for emergency response or temporary works.
  • Portable & scalable: relocate as operations change; add parallel modules to increase throughput.
  • Cost control: predictable factory build with reduced civils.
  • Small footprint: position at constrained or remote sites.
  • Security & durability: robust steel shell with chemical-resistant finishes.
  • Quality assurance: consistent build with documented testing.

Are water treatment container rooms compliant with UK regulations?

Yes. Designs are aligned to current UK health & safety expectations and your site standards, typically covering structural calculations and load-bearing, ventilation rates, safe access/egress, containment (bunding), electrical safety, security and emergency protocols. Where applicable we consider Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR), and potable-water contact material approvals (e.g., WRAS or equivalent as required by your water undertaker). Documentation and operator training are provided at handover.

What sizes and configurations are available?

Standard footprints are 20ft and 40ft ISO containers, including high-cube for additional headroom. Layouts are customised for your process, maintenance clearances and future upgrades.

What utilities and connections are required on site?

Typically: suitable electrical supply, water inlet/outlet, drainage and (if required) data/telemetry. Ratings and interface points are confirmed during design; external isolators and clearly labelled connection points are supplied.

How quickly can a containerised unit be delivered and installed?

Lead time depends on specification and approvals. Because the plant is factory-built, on-site works are usually limited to delivery, cranage, positioning and connections—often completed in days once on site.

Can the container be moved or expanded later?

Yes. Units are designed for transport and can be repositioned. Capacity can be scaled by adding parallel modules.

How are chemicals stored and spills contained?

Options include integral bunded floors, local bunds, chemical dosing cabinets and COSHH-compliant storage. Spill kits, eyewash and safety signage can be specified.

How are noise, temperature and corrosion managed?

We specify insulation, forced/mechanical ventilation or HVAC, and optional acoustic attenuation. Internal linings, coatings and fixings are selected for corrosion and chemical resistance based on your chemicals and environment.

Do you deliver, install and commission across Great Britain?

Yes – delivery, cranage planning and installation are available across England, Scotland and Wales, including restricted-access and remote locations. A site survey confirms logistics before manufacture.

What documentation, training and aftercare do we receive?

O&M manuals, FAT/SAT records, as-built drawings and operator induction are provided. Planned maintenance and support packages are available on request.
